*Note to Internal Candidates holding a fixed-term or an indeterminate contract against a regular budget post – if appointed, the Organization commits to retain the internal applicant’s current type of contract during the assignment to the project and to reassign the official to a post consistent with his/her qualifications and experience at the end of such assignment, as validated by the Executive Committee in its 186th Session in the framework of the M2P programme. The assessment of applications will be carried out taking into account primarily the interest of the Organization and the recruitment requirements.
**This position is financed by funds external to the Organization and carries, in principle, no expectation of renewal. Any potential subsequent extension will be subject to the terms of the Organization’s Staff Manual, to satisfactory performance and to availability of funds. 

Under the direct supervision of the ICT Law Programme Manager, the incumbent will assist the projects’ teams in planning, designing, developing, implementing and delivering of specific tasks assigned to the ICT Law Programme by the Director. The Project Assistant will mainly work for the EU-funded projects.
PRINCIPAL TASKS - ACTIVITIES
DUTY 1/Mission 1
Assist in the preparation and carrying out of tasks related to ICT law projects, including preparation of presentations and correspondence to project partners, experts and stakeholders. Ensure the overall monitoring of events and activities of relevance in the framework of the projects’ activities.

DUTY 2/Mission 2
Assist with the preparation of various project related documents such as periodic reports for the European Commission (dissemination reports, workforce statistics, financial information), communication material (factsheets, press release, dashboard publication). Ensure communication and collaboration with the project team and relevant in-house departments such as communication and translation.

DUTY 3/Mission 3
Perform research work on topics required within the different projects, i.e. EU data protection policy, international legal issues related to ICT law and other relevant legal and policing research work as required by the ICT law team.

DUTY 4/Mission 4
Assist in the preparation and coordination of meetings, workshops and other project related events, including ensuring participation, organization and timely follow-up.

DUTY 5/Mission 5
Carry out various administrative tasks within the framework of the ICT Law Programme, including assisting in the preparation of procurement documents, drafting letters and other correspondence.

DUTY 6/Mission 6
Perform any other duties as required by the supervisor and/or the hierarchy.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST
All candidates will be assessed on the requirements defined below.
1.1 Training/Education required
• At least two years’ University education in international law, international relations and/or human rights field or related discipline.
• A degree or equivalent would be an asset.

1.2 Languages
• Proficiency in English (written and oral).
• Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish.

1.3 Experience required
• At least two years’ professional experience in EU-funded projects/ EU institutions.

1.4 Specific abilities and skills required
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• IT proficiency and strong skills in business intelligence, Internet research and word processing software.
• Very good oral presentation skills.
• Proven ability to work with minimum supervision.

In addition to the requirements, the following Assets and Special Aptitudes would be beneficial.
• Very strong written and oral communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with customers and colleagues in a courteous and friendly manner and to work in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Remuneration for appointment on contract: The starting salary for grade 7 (Step 1) is EUR 2548 (G7 Lyon) per month. The successful candidate may be offered an appointment on a higher step depending upon professional background and experience. • The incumbent may occasionally be required to work occasional overtime based upon workload and to go on missions.

CONFIDENTIALITY REGIME
In application of Article 114.1 of INTERPOL’s Rules on the Processing of Data (RPD), the General Secretariat is “responsible for determining authorization procedures or a system of security clearance at each data confidentiality level”. Member states which are not able or willing to assist INTERPOL in performing such a check should be aware that some INTERPOL information might not be made available to their nationals working at INTERPOL.
In order to be able to access police information classified as “INTERPOL For official use only” or “INTERPOL RESTRICTED”, the individual has to obtain “INTERPOL Restricted” security clearance. This clearance is granted after Basic security screening.
In order to be able to access police information classified as “INTERPOL CONFIDENTIAL”, the individual has to obtain “INTERPOL Confidential” security clearance. This clearance is granted after Enhanced security screening. 
Under no circumstances should clearance be granted simply because of an official’s rank, post held, or length of service. Staff may only gain access to General Secretariat premises and to police information if the appropriate INTERPOL security clearance has been obtained. In order to reduce the contract timeline, and as the Enhanced security screening may take some time, the Official requiring INTERPOL Confidential security clearance may be authorized to start the appointment if the NCB can confirm that the equivalent to Basic security screening has been performed. Access to INTERPOL CONFIDENTIAL information will not be authorized until Enhanced security screening is confirmed.
