FOREIGN EXCHANGE TRADER, TRADING DESK

The Position
Reporting to the Head of Foreign Exchange trading – Treasury Division, this position calls for proactive position taking on the spot, swap and forward books in order to generate income from FX Trading.

Key Responsibilities
• Drive foreign currency trading in major currencies- proprietary trading.
• Drive Market making in USDKES and other currencies where applicable.
• Provide competitive quotes to the FX sales team and cover client flows
• Counter party Limit exposure management
• Ensure Technical analysis for profitable position taking.
• Relationship management with counter parties and regulators.
• Interpretation of market fundamentals for proper positioning of the spot, swaps and forward books.
• Gather market intelligence and offer advisory to the other desks on global and regional markets
• Positions and profit reconciliations in liaison with market risk, finance and back office departments.
• Liaise with other subsidiaries on maximization of group trading income

The Person
• Bachelor’s Degree in any Business related field from a recognized University.
• Certified Foreign Exchange and Money Market Dealer (ACI).
• Master’s Degree in Business related field will be an added advantage.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a business related field or Mathematics.
• Possession of ACI dealing certification
• At least four (4) years of general banking experience of which two (2) years at Managerial position which should have been spent in busy dealing room.
• Good knowledge of risk management and its application to financial markets.
• Thorough Knowledge of the end-to-end processes of Treasury products and services.
• Experience in using FX trading platforms.
• Analytical skills and excellent flair for numbers.
• Good negotiation skills.
• Excellent Team player

BANCASSURANCE TRAINING MANAGER

The Position
Reporting to the Group Head of Bancassurance, the role holder will be responsible for skills development and knowledge enhancement in the Insurance Agency with the aim of Building a Strong Knowledge base within a high performance Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Training strategy formulation and supervision, coordinating and controlling of training activities
  • Co-ordinate and organize in liaison with other departments in-house Training seminars, Departmental Training, Branches Training and Client workshops.
  • Responsible for preparation of training materials and insurance e-learning activities
  • Ensure continuous skills development within the Insurance Agency to create capacity and enhance knowledge of Insurance products in the organization.
  • Identify gaps relating to insurance knowledge and co-ordinate training activities in the respective regions
  • Support implementation of Training Programmes through identifying capacity challenges and sourcing of appropriate training support within budgetary allocation
  • Offer effective mentorship, motivation and technical training to the Insurance teams
  • Participate in implementation of new insurance innovations
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with other Insurance Training Institutions and capacity building partners

Position’s Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
  • University degree with specialization in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Finance or business management; a Master’s degree is preferred
  • AIIK Diploma or ACII Professional Qualification a must
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the Insurance Industry 4 of which must be at Management level in Insurance Company, Insurance intermediary (in training, Underwriting, Claims or Relationship Management) or Insurance Training institute
  • Has a good understanding preferably with working knowledge of both General and life insurance products
  • Well-developed level of judgment, communication and presentation skills, a team player with professional attitude
  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliable and self-driven team player with strong interpersonal and persuasive skills
  • Capacity to work with minimum supervision to meet strict deadlines as well as willingness to work outside normal working hours depending on the demands of the job
  • Excellent people management skills, Leadership skills, Innovative and motivating attitude
  • Proven planning and organization skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office software
  • Ability to develop working relationships with a wide range of internal and external partners and stakeholders

DIRECTOR MORTGAGES

Reporting to the Chief Business Officer Kenya, the position is responsible for overall strategic direction of the Mortgage Division in terms of business and market share growth, profitability, efficiency and effective operational framework, compliance and risk management and will drive the business to increase shareholder value.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The major responsibilities of this position will be:-

  • Develop and implement the Mortgage Business strategy; put in place strategic plans and oversee execution across both the Corporate and Retail segments.
  • Development of Mortgage Business Divisional budget in cooperation with Chief Finance Officer
  • Grow, monitor and maintain Mortgage Liability and Asset portfolios to ensure that the Bank remains the market leader, competitive and promptly reacts to the changes in both the internal and external environment; and with an ultimate aim of ensuring profitability of the Mortgage Business
  • Monitor economic, business and political trends and their impact on the housing industry.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations i.e. CBK prudential guidelines, Banking Act, IAS 39 and internal processes and procedures.
  • Ensure well designed internal systems and controls are embedded in the mortgage business
  • Support the development of strong Mortgage business in the International Business segment

THE PERSON
For the above position, the successful applicant should have:-
  • A university degree in a Business related area. Possession of a postgraduate degree or professional qualification in a related field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 8 years’ experience in general banking and 3 of which should have been at Management level and must have:
  • Experience in commercial banking with at least six years in a senior top Mortgage Banking management position
  • Good appreciation and knowledge of the Mortgage Banking Industry, latest market trends as well as challenges
  • Experience in Customer Service/Relationship Management and Bank operations.
  • A thorough knowledge of Retail Banking products and services, and extensive Banking Industry knowledge.
  • A good understanding of risk, credit policies and financial analysis.

HEAD OF CORPORATE BANKING, KCB TANZANIA

The Position
Reporting to the MD, KCB Tanzania, the Head of Corporate Banking will be responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the Subsidiary’s Corporate Banking profitability and growth targets whilst maintaining high level of customer satisfaction. The position will involve the management of teams to deliver products and services focused towards assets and liabilities growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development of the overall business strategy covering the Corporate Customer segment and business through deals syndication, business modeling, Cost and Risk management.
  • Development of a Corporate Banking budget in cooperation with Head of Finance.
  • Generate revenues (commissions, fee income and net interest income) from structured and trade finance solutions/transactions.
  • Diversify revenue base to include fee income from structured finance transactions and spread the credit risk through loan syndications.
  • Manage off-balance Sheet trade finance business including documentary LC, guarantees and acceptances.
  • Grow other trade related business volumes (pre- and post- shipment finance, stock finance, post import finance facilities among others.
  • Provision of critical inputs in various trade finance and cash management instruments in order to ensure that the bank is not exposed in any undue risks;
  • Increase and diversify the corporate clients revenue base through formulation and marketing of Trade Services and Cash management products to corporate, institutional and selected retail clients;
  • Ensure strong cross- selling of existing and new products to existing and new clients; and in this process, maintain effective liaison with all relevant business units in the bank
  • Ensure recruitment and maintenance of good quality assets, as well as pricing model that generates target profitability across the Corporate business
  • Contribute to and take a proactive role in policy and the strategic direction of business
  • Lead and manage the corporate function workforce (including Unit Heads, Relationship Managers and Corporate Bankers )
  • Ensure adequate, relevant training and proper positioning and leveraging of the function’s human resources.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations i.e. BoT prudential guidelines, Banking Act, and internal processes and procedures.
  • Prepare and present the Corporate Banking business performance and strategy Papers to the Board.
The Person
In order to be considered for the above position all applicants should have:-

  • University Degree preferably in Business related field from a recognized institution. Having a post graduate and or Banking qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in commercial banking with at least six years in a senior Corporate Banking management position.
  • Good appreciation and knowledge of the Banking Industry, latest Corporate Banking market trends as well as challenges.
  • Excellent Cross-Cultural People Management skills, Team Motivation and Leadership Competence.
  • A good understanding of Banking Law and Practice as well as Corporate Governance Principles. 
  • Sound IT proficiency.
  • An appreciation of Risk Management and Knowledge of internal controls
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills with proven people, leadership, communication and negotiation skills
