Zonal Business Manager Airtel Rwanda
Manage and support Airtel Rwanda distribution partners and staff within the assigned region by planning and coordinating inter and extra departmental activities in order to maximize sales revenues, grow market share, foster distributor effectiveness through routine review meetings, manage company relationship with regional stakeholders to foster excellent corporate governance.
Develop and improve skill set for direct reports through continuous coaching and mentoring.
Maintain close watch on market dynamics that affect the business and report and keep record on competitor activities.
- Design and implement the regional sales plan in line with distribution strategy.
- Monthly translate sales targets into comprehensive action plans that ensure their achievement.
- Ensure set route disciplines are observed by both distributor staff and company employees.
- Guide and Monitor distributor activities to ensure we increase our subscriber base through quality activations.
2. Coordinate sales and distribution activities within the region.
- Daily monitor stock levels and availability of Airtel products in the market.
- Manage distribution and placement of visibility materials to drive dominant visibility.
- Daily monitor distributor sales staff to ensure there is effective and efficient route coverage.
3. Manage Coordinate and support distributors/dealers and other partners in the region.
- Identify and recommend potential distributors to S&D Director for consideration as well as recommend termination of non performers.
- Daily monitor performance of distributors, investment levels and review performance weekly.
- Manage communication between Airtel and Distributors and other partners.
4. Prepare weekly reports for management meeting.
- Generate performance reports on sales trends in the region.
- Review same reports with direct reports and distributors and come up with action points to address areas of concern.
5. Develop, Manage and motivate staff in order to achieve maximum output.
- Participate in Territory Manager recruitment.
- Manage induction and orientation of the new staff.
- Share targets on weekly/monthly basis and review through the month-manage performance.
- Coaching and mentoring territory managers.
- Enforce discipline in the team and foster good relationship between the sales team and our partners and their staff.
- Drive regular feedback and reviews with each team member through structured training and on the job coaching
- Play a critical role to ensure employee engagement & passion
- Lead initiatives geared at reducing attrition and retaining talent.
- Establish performance expectations and regularly review individual performance
- Recommend appropriate rewards and recognition
Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelors degree in social sciences
- Masters in Business Administration would be preferred additional qualification
- 4-6 years of varied experience in Sales & Distribution ~ 2years of relevant experience in Telecom at management level.
- Extensive knowledge of telecoms business and value chain and sound understanding of distribution models and route to market.
- Telecom analytical skills both local and regional
Ability to innovate and deliver value to business at multiple levels will play an important role
- Ability to manage large scale with a very wide geographical scope across region of assignment
- Ability to manage an outsourcing partner to deliver business solution
- High on interpersonal skills and able to relate at all levels within the business.
- Sound sales & Distribution experience – combination of both FMCG/Direct marketing
- Customer intimacy
- Keen on end to end to distributor and staff issues.
- Sound analytical skills
- Strong communication skills and should be able to lead cross functional teams.
- High level of planning & execution capabilities
