South Central Program
Mogadishu Office
OBJECTIVE: VOCATIONAL SKILLS TRAINING
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a private, independent, non-profit organization (NGO), devoted, on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights in general, to securing the protection of refugee and internally displaced people (IDPs), and to promoting term solutions to the problems of forced displacement. DRC is an international organizations operating in Somalia in general and this Program is in Mogadishu in particular for the last 1 and ½ years. Since April 2007 DRC Mogadishu has been providing life saving assistant and the war affected displaced people in around Mogadishu. For the last six years, DRC was mainly focusing wash and sanitation, protection, livelihood/food security and shelter/NFIs activities to the IDP and poor hosted communities.
There for, due to lack of or inadequate sustainable livelihood intervention on the ground and assessing the importance of designing projects that might focus the current real needs of the IDP people, DRC is planning to launch a vocational skill training project during the period from Jan 2012 t June 013. The target beneficiers are protracted IDP and poor host communities, from different IDP settlements in 6 districts (Wardhiigleey, Yaqshid, Karaan, Waberi, Hamar Jaabjab and Wadjir) in Mogadishu.
DRC Mogadishu staff will assess and select the target final beneficiers according to selection criteria developed by DRC office with help of IDP committee as well. The total number of benificiers is 500 divided into six districts equally. The aim of this project is to enhance the skills of the target beneficiaries through vocational skill training for better livelihood opportunities.
Hence, DRC is announcing to receive detailed proposals from potential partners for the implementation of the mentioned activities. The proposal should be detailed and be able to cover full organizational profile, the related organizational performance in the past, the ongoing projects and the funding agency. The proposal should provide how the activities are implemented, and methodology to be used. The proposal should also cover the indicators and the measures need to be used to measure the impact and the project achievements.
You need to develop the course plan for 4 to 6 months period. The course plan should cover the subjects to be taken and the time allocated for each session, hours of each session, and days in each week. We would like much of the time to be devoted to Practical classes. The budget should be broken down as much as possible and should be included all the items and supplies that are necessary for the training. The cost is to be divided two parties the training cost and the tools and other kits that will be provided to trainees after the completion of the course. You need to provide in detail what are the tools to be given to each beneficiary and the cost of each item, not at lump sum.
