DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the overall guidance of the Head of OCHA Office in Dadaab and under the general supervision of the Information Management Officer (IOM), the IM Associate will be responsible of the following duties:
a. Under the guidance of the IMO, assist in the updating and assimilation of global information management standards, policies and procedures to guide related activities within the OCHA Office.
b. Assist in determining and supporting recommendations made by relevant senior OCHA staff on primary data and information elements that are required internally and externally to support humanitarian decision-making.
c. Support and maintain a client-oriented approach with all relevant stakeholders to help identify their information requirements and support activities that ensure that the information needed to support humanitarian operations is submitted/collected, organized and made available to all humanitarian stakeholders.
d. Assist in strategic and operational decision-making by coordinating the processing and analysis of data and information and presenting it in the format most useful for analysis (e.g. reports, maps)
e. Under the supervision of senior staff, develop, design and implement a structured dissemination plan for all information products and services (e.g. reports, data, maps) through, for example, hard copy, stand-alone executable programs, CD-ROM and websites.
f. Support learning through participation by training OCHA staff in OCHA’s information systems. Assist where required the design and management of training programs for staff
g. Support collection & maintenance of geographic baseline & thematic data.
h. Support productions of maps & other geographic information products.
i. Support GIS analysis in a humanitarian context
j. Provide support to technical staff in the development of databases to support the collection and processing of context specific data (e.g. affected populations, displaced populations, demographic and vulnerability data, result of common rapid needs assessment etc.)
k. Support the advocacy functions of the office by assisting in the collection, processing, storage and retrieval of documents, including images, of emergencies and vulnerability, as well as relief operations.
l. Any other duties as may be requested by OCHA Head of Office (senior IOM or HIC Manager where appropriate).

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Secondary Education, preferably with a specialized certification in a relevant IM area.

Experience:
Six (6) years of progressive experience in the area of Information Management and working with GIS, Mapping and visual products design applications. Ability to work independently in a result oriented multi-tasking environment is an asset.
