Credit Analyst Standard Chartered Bank - Kenya
Role Purpose
The role holder provides independent credit analysis and the basis of a credit strategy to maximizing client wallet share to one or a number of Relationship Managers. They have a thorough understanding of the client¿s industry, business cycles, and other relevant factors. To do this effectively they may focus on particular industry segments. In addition they effectively manage a credit portfolio
Key Outcomes
Credit Analysis (Required) -
* Proactive, comprehensive and timely credit analysis is provided to Relationship Manager and credit community
Credit Analysis (Excellence) -
* Credit analysis demonstrates a breadth of understanding including comparisons to peer and industry groups and information gained through external networking e.g. Credit agencies
* Credit analysis is extended to include suggestions and recommendations for new businesses opportunities
* Recommends additional Credit Analysis activities based on trends and/or trigger events identified in routine analysis
Relationship Mgmt Assurance (Required) -
* Relationship Managers are provided with insights into clients through understanding of Industry sector, client information and account plans
Relationship Mgmt Assurance (Excellence) -
* A view as to what the `future¿ looks like for client industry or sector is provided
* Creative recommendations are provided to Relationship Manager by monitoring peer groups, competitors, industry reviews, non standard industry information/ data (equity, credit reports, press and magazine reports
* Areas of further and future product sales opportunities are identified and managed through the referral process within SCB
* Internally recognized as industry expert
Credit Portfolio/Account Mgmt (Required) -
* Quality of portfolio managed on an ongoing basis, producing exception reports as appropriate
* Consistent approach achieved through reviewing client¿s credit across entire portfolio
* Relationship Manager(s) are educated on macro economic fundamentals which impact upon their credit portfolio
Credit Portfolio/Account Mgmt (Excellence) -
* Improved robustness of risk profiles and credit analysis achieved through evaluation of exception cases and sharing learning with other Analysts
Generic Measures of the Role
* Timeliness and quality of credit analysis
* of first time approval rate of credit analysis reports
* Proactively monitoring additional sales opportunities ensuring they will meet business underwriting standards and have a reasonable prospect of conversion into customers
* Correctly anticipating industry cycles and company specific business risk and identifying their impact on customer credit ratings
