As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Deputy National Director will provide executive leadership and coordination of key aspects of work, including oversight of planning and program quality assurance; strengthening resource acquisition; and oversight of the support services functions of the organization in order to manage risk and compliance while attracting and securing funding to maintain continuity.
WV is looking for a leader who has extensive experience managing within a large and complex environment and who can deliver strong and consistent results within this context.The successful candidate will combine strong business disciplines with inspirational spiritual leadership skills as well as bring a passionate desire to help others, especially children.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Lead strategy implementation for the office with clear, measurable short-term and long-term targets.
- Ensure that Ministry strategies are aligned with Regional, Partnership strategic priorities and the country specific strategic guidelines / priorities.
- Coordinate the quality assurance meetings for the Senior Management Team and the Expanded Management Team and ensure agreed action plans are implemented.
- Ensure that the unit has a national resource development strategy and implementation plan to generate funds locally (i.e. on multilateral, bilateral, foundations and corporations that may have a "local" presence, but are "international" organizations) for identifying new opportunities and are forging alliances that lead to optimization of all resources.
- Support the ND in the engagement and building of strategic alliances with the government of the country, major donor agencies, WV Partnership, non-governmental agencies, churches and media.
- Ensure procurement and logistics transactions are carried out in accordance with WVI financial guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), providing high level leadership and acting in the role of ND in the Director’s absence.
REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
- Master’s degree in development related fields or related field of study
- 10-15 years at management/leadership level, out of which at least three have been in a senior position.
- The holder of this position must be a results oriented leader who can handle a heavy work load as well as manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands,
- S/he must also be adept at both strategic and future planning while ensuring daily support services operations are functioning smoothly and efficiently to support the ongoing integrated ministry.
- Experience with program development and implementation with major donors such as USAID, DFID and EU.
- Strong oral and written English language skills.
