Job Description
•Assist the Unit Heads (New business & Personal Banking, Liabilities and Lending) in directing and overseeing the day-to-day management of operational risks at the business level.•Implement controls within the Business Units - New Business & Personal banking as well as Retail Products units (Liabilities and Lending) to meet regulatory and internal requirements.
•Ensure proper functioning of day-to-day controls, periodic monitoring activities and timely resolution of risk issues.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
•To be the source of reference within the Business Units - New Business & Personal banking and Retail Products (Liabilities and Lending) in facilitating and promoting the understanding of OR and compliance requirements.
•Lead and support implementation of OR initiatives for the Business Unit.
•Proactively communicate with the Business Units - New Business and Retail Products (Liabilities and Lending) Head on operational risk issues. Escalate significant events to Business Units - New Business & Personal Banking and Retail Products (Liabilities and Lending) Business Heads as appropriate.
•Coordinate and consolidate operational risk and loss reporting of the unit for the reporting to the Units Heads. Ensure data accuracy and completeness.
•Design and implement control measures and monitoring plans for compliance and operational risk management. Ensure effectiveness of controls for compliance monitoring and risk management.
•Undertake and/or coordinate periodic business monitoring (self-assessment) activities within the Value Centre and escalate findings and or breaches to Unit Heads, when they occur.
•Ensure risks and issues identified are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner.
•Assist the Business units in the implementation of OR framework or other relevant OR initiatives.
•Act as the Units – (New Business & Personal banking and Retail Products) Money Laundering Prevention Officer (UMLPO), to ensure appropriate internal controls and procedures for money laundering prevention are in place and functioning as intended. Where appropriate, assist in the investigation of financial crime risks.
•Identify gaps and arrange training on compliance and OR for staff.
Qualifications & Skills
•University degree holder and 5 years experience in Banking Operations gained through working in the Core areas of Banking.
•Professional qualification in Banking or Accounting preferred
•Good knowledge of the Group Operational and Compliance Risk Policies
•Analytical, problem solving and attention to detail
•Experience in Audit or Control an advantage though not a prerequisite
•Strong leadership, decision-making and management abilities.
•Proficiency in using key Banking systems and a good understanding of process mapping and process review
•A strong team player capable of interacting with senior business/risk management.
•A good performance track record.
