Save the Children works in 120 countries. We save children’s lives. We fight for their rights. We help them fulfil their potential.
In South Sudan, Save the Children works with the government, national & international partners and communities to implement health, Nutrition, Education, Food Security & Livelihoods, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance and Emergency Response programmes, with operations in nine of South Sudan’s ten states. Our country office is based in Juba, and we employ over 600 national and international staff in field bases across the country, with an annual budget of over £22m.
South Sudan celebrated its birth as the world’s 193rd nation on 9th July, 2011, but the challenges of this new country are great - war, natural disasters and widespread poverty have left the children in South Sudan amongst the most impoverished in the world.
Conditions for staff working in South Sudan are demanding and candidates should possess high levels of patience, determination and flexibility. In 2012, Save the Children in South Sudan will become part of Save the Children International, an exciting change whereby we will become part of a global organisation with over 14,000 staff worldwide. We are looking for dynamic, committed and highly competent individuals to help us strengthen and further expand our work. If you joined the humanitarian sector to make a real difference to people’s lives, then working with Save the Children in South Sudan offers you the opportunity to realise that ambition.
