Database Administrator
(REF: NDMA 20) (1 Position)
Reporting to the ICT Manager, the Database Administrator will be responsible for the day to day running of the Authority’s databases
Core duties and responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the Authority’ databases and ensure that applications are developed using both national and international software development standards and best practices
- Support integration of GIS and Remote Sensing /Earth observation products into the database development process
- Undertake capacity building of the Authority’s staff both at national and county levels and support county offices in the administration of drought management databases
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in computer science. Applicants with a Master’s degree in Computer Science will have an added advantage
- Certification from relevant recognized professional body in database development, particularly in SQL Server, and a FOSS database management system such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Practical knowledge in use of GIS and Remote Sensing applications
- Relevant working experience of at least 3 years
