GM East Africa Limited (GMEA), the leading Motor Vehicle Company in Kenya, is looking for candidates to fill the following open positions from 1st January, 2013 to support Business growth and expansion in Kenya and the East Africa Region.

Candidates must demonstrate possession of intellectual horsepower, ability to learn on the fly, customer focus, innovativeness and be IT savvy in addition to the Education, Professional and experience requirements for each position.
 
Graduate In Training (GIT) 

Nine Positions
 
Applications are invited from 2012 Graduates with a minimum of A- in KCSE and Second Class Honors (Upper Division) from Commission for Higher Education accredited universities.
 
Successful candidates will be employed on one year fixed Graduate Training contracts in the following departments:
  • Human Resources - Ref: HRM 01/12
  • Engineering - Ref: HRM 02/12
  • Manufacturing - Ref: HRM 03/12
  • Purchasing & Supply Chain - Ref: HRM 04/12
  • Sales & Marketing - Ref: HRM 05/12
  • Finance - Ref: HRM 06/12
Trainees will be considered for employment on permanent terms in the event of vacancies arising during the training period for which they are eligible depending on performance and potential.

Product Engineers 

(2 Positions) 

Ref: HRM 07/12
 
Reporting to the General Manager, Product Engineering & Bodybuilding the successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Provision of Technical support and guidance in design and quality standards
  • Product and process improvement
  • Identifying potential suppliers of components
  • Conducting supplier source audits
  • Monitoring and providing performance feedback to suppliers
  • Initiating local content and validation of components
  • Implementing engineering changes
  • Developing quality inspection procedures
  • Implementing initiatives to reduce product cost
  • Management of Bill of Materials ( BOM)
  • Supplier evaluation and development
Minimum Requirements:
  • Upper second class (Hons) Degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Production Engineering
  • Lean Manufacturing and Quality Control standards
  • Knowledge of Autocad application
  • Project management, analytical, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Manufacturing or Automotive industry experience will be an added advantage
  • Five years experience
Supervisor, Customs & Logistics 

Ref: HRM 08/12
 
Reporting to the General Manager - Manufacturing, Purchasing & Supply Chain, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall supervision of the Customs (in-bound clearance, warehousing, ex-warehousing and exports) and Logistics functions to ensure the following:
  • Timely clearance of all imports
  • Effective Management of the bonded warehouse, export customs and logistics operations to East Africa Community and other Sub-Saharan Africa Markets
  • Compliance with customs regulations (Kenya and other import/export countries) and GM customs policies
  • Liaison and follow up with shipping lines for speedy delivery of imported materials
  • Allocation/Distribution of customs clearing documents to clearing agents and Coordination of clearing process and goods delivery from port(s) of discharge to GMEA
  • Maintenance of Customs Records
  • Proper warehousing of goods in the bonded warehousing
  • Effective execution of ex-warehousing customs entries
  • Application for bonds as required and prompt cancellation/retirement as necessary
  • Manage movement of vehicles/parts invoiced to export market up to the final destination (import country)
  • Representing the company on regional integration matters (EAC, COM ESA and any other trade blocks)
  • Customs and Logistics stakeholders Management
Minimum Requirements:
  • Upper second class (Hons) Degree in related field
  • Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding
  • Training in Kenya Revenue Authority customs system
  • East African Customs and Freight Forwarders Practicing Certificate
  • Good communication, interpersonal , planning and organizational skills
  • MS Office and Databases
  • Five years experience in similar position
Aftersales Accountant 

Ref: HRM 09/12
 
Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Aftersales (Parts, Service and Bodyshop) costing and pricing as per policy
  • Preparation of month end journals for Aftersales
  • Accounting for all monthly direct shipments to Dealers and Goods in transit
  • Continuous review of Aftersales cost factors
  • Compliance with the revenue recognition policy and related company internal control procedures
Minimum Requirements:
  • Upper second class (Hons) Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • CPA (K) or equivalent qualifications
  • MS Office and Databases
  • Reporting, planning, Analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Five years working experience
Production Supervisor, Material Handling 

Ref: HRM 10/12
 
Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Production Material Handling management
  • Preparing and maintaining monthly Production Material schedules
  • Compiling and distributing monthly production reports
  • Drive improvement in material handling process
  • Maintaining safety and good housekeeping standards in line with Environmental, Health & Safety Policies
Minimum requirements:
  • Upper second class ( Hons) Degree in Materials Management/ Management Science/Industrial Engineering/Production Engineering
  • MS Office and Databases
  • Experience in an ERP environment
  • Planning, Communication, interpersonal and Organizational skills.
  • Two Years working experience in a busy production or warehousing environment
Transport Supervisor

Reporting to the General Manager- Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Preparation and management of company Transport Budget
  • Employee Transport
  • Company Fleet management and Reporting - Expenditure, insurance and disposal
  • Driver Training
  • Compliance with all Government and GMEA transport policies, legislation and procedures
  • Vehicle Inventory management
  • Management of Transport suppliers
Minimum Requirements:
  • Upper Second Class (Hons) Degree in related field
  • Basic Mechanics
  • Reporting, monitoring and interpersonal skills
  • MS Office and Databases
  • Five years experience in Fleet management
(Annual Fixed Term, Renewable Contracts) 

Market Analyst

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Market Analysis
  • Research design and execution, including surveys
  • Long term sales forecasting, reporting and business continuity planning
Minimum Requirements:
  • Upper Second Class ( Hons) Degree preferably in Statistics, Marketing or Business studies
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills
  • MS Office and Databases
  • Two years research experience
Sales Executive

Reporting to the Fleet and Tender Sales Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
  • New business development
  • Front office Vehicle Sales
  • Key Account management
  • Participating in Market analysis, surveys and sales promotion activities
Minimum Requirements:
  • Upper Second Class (Hons) Bachelors degree in related field
  • Minimum five years experience in Marketing
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning and organizational skills
Field Service Consultant

Reporting to the Aftersales Service Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Dealer development
  • Resolving customer product concerns and technical queries
  • Working with Engineering and liaising with source Plants to resolve any Product concerns
  • Product Campaigns follow up
  • Warranty administration
Minimum requirements:
  • Higher National Diploma in Automotive Engineering
  • MS Office and Databases
  • Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Five years hands on experience with Automotive Diagnostics systems
Parts Sales Executives 

(2 Positions)

Reporting to the Retail Operations Manager, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Front office Parts and Accessories ( P&A) sales
  • Developing and implementing Marketing Programs
  • Relationship management with Dealers, fleet and Retail customers
  • Participate in Market surveys
  • Supporting attainment of set customer satisfaction index (CS I) targets
Minimum Requirements:
  • Upper Second Class ( Hons) Degree in Business or Automotive Engineering
  • Experience in an ERP environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Two years customer service experience
Service Advisors 

(2 Positions)

Reporting to the Senior Service Advisor, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following functions:
  • Front office service consultation
  • Customer follow up and satisfaction surveys
  • Preparation of Quotations
Minimum Requirements:
  • Upper Second Class (Hons) Degree in Automotive Engineering
  • Experience in an ERP environment
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Two years customer service experience
