ABN 360 offers a holistic approach to telling Africa's business story - first. With much-esteemed international brands such as CNBC Africa and Forbes Africa providing a broadcast and print platform respectively, the ABN 360 conglomerate is on a drive to strengthen its presence on the African continent. The business development division has an opportunity for a Bureau Representative to manage, develop, organize and oversee all aspects of the business in the Rwandan region.
The principal responsibilities of the Bureau Manager are to:
- Assist with set-up and smooth running of the Rwandan Bureau, including the editorial, financial, administrative function.
- Manage and take responsibility for the editorial quality.
- Manage the implementation of policies.
- Lead ABN 360/CNBC Africa’s presence in Rwanda in terms of the channel’s reputation – editorially.
- Ensure the best possible coverage for the Rwandan business community and stock exchange participants
- Ensure that the Rwanda bureau adheres to the standards set out by ABN 360/CNBC Africa in terms of style, presentation and coverage.
- Identify and manage relationships with third party service providers in Rwanda.
- Liaise daily and weekly with the programming department of ABN 360/CNBC Africa based in Sandton, South Africa, regarding editorial contributions from Rwanda.
- Submit weekly updates of issues to be addressed to the ABN EXCO meetings in Johannesburg.
- Submit monthly reports on sales, marketing and editorial issues for ABN’s monthly management report.
- Network with potential new clients, customers, television distribution channels and corporate entities in Rwanda.
- Manage sales staff to achieve annual sales targets in conjunction with the sales department.
- Attend functions and represent ABN 360/CNBC Africa when necessary.
- Attend staff workshops in South Africa and report back to staff in Rwanda on important decisions, changes and challenges.
- Liaise with the Marketing Department in Johannesburg for any public relations related requests and queries.
- Keep ABN 360/CNBC Africa – Johannesburg office updated on the latest developments in Rwanda that is of interest or may have an impact on ABN 360/CNBC Africa.
- Provide support to the HR Department of ABN 360/CNBC Africa - Johannesburg with regard to employment related managers and the implementation of employment policy and other guidelines issued.
- Facilitate external communication strategies after approval from the MD. No public statements to be issued without written approval from the MD.
- Manage ABN 360/CNBC Africa’s participation at events and conferences in Rwanda.
- Update knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis.
- Keep abreast of the latest events and business news in the region and the world.
- Any other responsibility or task as assigned by the MD and GM as the need arises.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
- 4 - 7 years in a similar role
- Editorial experience 60%
- Commercial experience 40%
- Qualification:
- Business management qualification advantageous
