The British Council is seeking an experienced Team Leader to lead the implementation of an upcoming donor funded justice sector programme in South Sudan. The overall goals of this programme, as the British Council envisages, will centre on improving access to justice, and strengthening the criminal justice system of South Sudan. The position is contingent on the British Council being awarded a contract.
Some Essential Qualities • Significant experience of Justice Sector Development – preferably complimented by a previous career, in the region, in the justice sector; (Police officer, Lawyer, Judge, Legal Rights, Education or Legal Sector Policy amongst others).
• Experience as leader/manager of at least one long programme or experience as Deputy (or equivalent) on a long term (3+ years) large scale programme.
• Experience of working on a justice or governance sector programme in a similar country within the region.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the social and political landscape of South Sudan, with recent experience of working/living there.
• Professional and/or academic qualifications in relevant fields.
• Experience of working on DFID/EC funded (or equivalent) programmes.
• Experience in overseeing programme operations (such as finance, HR, logistics, security etc) in a challenging environment.
