UNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks an Associate Director, Strategic Partnerships, D-1, Private Fundraising and Partnerships, New York.
Purpose:
Under the leadership of the PFP Director, accountable for facilitating and coordinating the implementation of the Expanded Framework on Strategic Partnerships, particularly as they pertain to private sector relations and partnerships by the UN system. Maintain regular liaison with other key divisions on the implementation of the recommendation of the Expanded Framework on Strategic Partnerships, and provide advice to senior colleagues as appropriate.
Key responsibilities include:
• Maintaining and expanding strategic partnerships with sister UN agencies, and the UN Global Compact and Office of the UN Secretary-General on all issues relating to engagement with the private sector, and facilitating contacts and collaboration between these entities and. Identifying opportunities for strategic inter-agency collaboration on matters relating to private sector engagement.
• Advising the Director of PFP, the Executive Director, Deputies and senior managers on appropriate approaches to strengthening and expanding multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder partnerships that engage a broad range of constituents.
• In cooperation with other Divisions, and UNICEF National Committees, coordinating and ensuring the establishment and use of a system to monitor the effectiveness of strategic partnerships with a broad range of private sector partners and providing guidance to ensure coherent approaches.
• Responsible for all aspects of management of the PFP Partnerships team, including the preparation and implementation of biennium and annual management plans that support the office’s role in advancing UNICEF’s strategic priorities and the fulfillment of the office’s accountabilities during the planning period, and monitor and report on the implementation of the plans.
• Providing oversight and guidance to the PFP staff from other sections out-posted in NYHQ. Representing PFP Division on all relevant matters in NYHQ and also when the Director of PFP is not available for key meetings and events.
Qualification:
• Advanced university degree in any of the following: Social Sciences, Economics, Public Administration, International Relations, Business Administration, Public Health, Education or other fields related to the work of UNICEF.
• At least 13 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in international development and partnership building, and management of human, financial and material resources at national and international levels, including in developing countries. Proven track record and experience in working with the private sector, UNICEF National Committees and other UN agencies in the areas of private sector engagement and partnerships.
• Fluency in English; another UN language an important asset.
