Summary
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who wants to help us change the world and work hard everyday to protect our oceans, forests and the air we breathe. The ideal candidate for this job will have at least 2 years experience in the field of online marketing and/or social media strategy.
The Social Media Strategist will work in our Online Strategy department that is responsible for managing the strategic direction and day-to-day maintenance of all of Greenpeace USA’s digital assets, which includes our websites, social media channels and our email lists. We are looking for someone familiar with how these digital platforms interface and how social media fits into an overall online strategic plan, with special attention to designing new and innovative social media strategy that fits into Greenpeace’s overall vision.
Responsibilities
- Creating, developing and managing content for Greenpeace’s social media channels, adding fresh content and managing community relationships.
- Training Greenpeace staff on how and why to use social media for campaigns and community organizing.
- Overseeing outside contractors for developing new social media tools
- Gathering and analyzing social media data and tailoring strategy and tactics based on this analysis
- Working across departments on major projects
- Working cooperatively with a highly skilled and passionate team
Required Skills
- 2 years experience managing major social media channels like Facebook and twitter, ideally but not necessarily, for an advocacy organization
- Experience planning, managing and executing successful social media campaigns
- Ability to write impactful campaign messaging that resonates with our membership
- Basic understanding of HTML
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ability to track and analyze online data across email, web and social media platforms.
Location
The position will be based either at the Greenpeace USA office in Washington, DC or our office in San Francisco, CA.
