This position is responsible to oversee the protection of assets and personnel of BGML from the risk and threat of loss from crime and waste in the most cost effective and timely manner at Bulyanhulu or Buzwagi.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPAS)
• To implement and maintain effective protection and security policies and control mechanisms to ensure the ongoing security of BGML’s assets and employees.
• Assist in the development of an effective security strategy for BGML to ensure maximum protection and response capability to deal appropriately with any threat to BGML’s operations at Bulyanhulu.
• Assist with the development of and implement measures to ensure that the security team complies with BGML’s policies and procedures to deliver best practice in security and risk management.
• Guide, influence and educate line management on all matters relating to emergency and security issues to ensure appropriate support is provided on security matters on site.
• Provide leadership to the team to ensure the development of a working environment that is conducive to the achievement of budgeted KPI’s and that security employees achieve their full potential by gaining new skills through the provision of effective mentoring and training programmes.
• Provide the leadership necessary to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry standards and any applicable legislation.
• Develop relationships and networks to monitor activity within the local area specifically and Tanzania generally to ensure that BGML is thoroughly briefed on any potential threat to it’s employees, assets and ongoing operations.
• Implement employee performance management processes to ensure optimum employee performance and take appropriate action to remedy any substandard employee performance or behaviour.
• Liaise closely with regulatory authorities including the police to ensure that any losses and criminal activity affecting Bulyanhulu’s operations and business are reported, investigated and dealt with appropriately.
• Liaison with security system and equipment maintenance contractors to ensure regular servicing.
• Control the reporting of faults to ensure the completion of repairs and upgrades in a cost effective and efficient manner.
• Continually review every aspect of the areas’ activities to ensure that opportunities to add value and enhance shareholder wealth are identified and implemented.

FORMAL TRAINING
• Military or Police training in security operations.
LEVEL OF EXPERIENCE
• Ten to fifteen years experience in the military, police services or security management environment of which at least five was in a leadership rank / role.
• Previous experience in Africa or similar environment.
