The FinancialDirector will be responsible for setting up and maintaining all accounting,financial reporting and cash management systems and controls relating to the business, commercial decision making on new business and involvement in fundraising initiatives. Key deliverables are therefore:
- Building a high quality finance team to support the operations in Tanzania and Mozambique, including close liaison with the parent company in Mauritius and shareholders. This will include recruiting and training a competent team from scratch who are capable of adequately supporting a fast-growing business.
- Establishing robust financial procedures to control cash and treasury, revenue, costs and working capital.
- Build upon the existing accounting and equipment management systems and recommend improvements
- Developing financial reporting templates to provide accurate and timely management and statutory information to all stakeholders, including management of the annual audit.
- Development of robust financial budgets and forecasts.
- Management of taxation matters across various jurisdictions.
- Implementation of a strong risk management framework and maintenance of strict corporate governance standards.
- Production of quotations and contracts for new customers.
- Supporting the business and wider management team in securing growth finance from local and international sources and purchase terms from equipment suppliers.
- Provision of insight and analysis on key strategic decisions including expansion into new geographies or markets and the purchase of new equipment.
The Financial Director will be reporting to the CEO.
Desired Skills & Experience
The position requires a candidate who is a qualified accountant with at least eight years work experience. The candidate must be an exceptionally motivated self-starter with the ability to take initiative and multi-task. He/she will have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. He/she should be comfortable working withand understanding a variety of accounting software, and have the ambition to help drive the growth of a young company. He/she will be an excellent manager of people, and well used to working across different geographies and cultures.The candidate will be comfortable with regular travel, particularly between Tanzania and Mozambique.

The business has been set up jointly by Alistair Logistics, a Tanzanian based transporter, and by African Century, a group holding company with interests across food production, financial services and asset management, operating in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Zambia.
Alistair Services has existing operations in Mtwara, Tanzania and a head office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. By the end of Q3 2012, the Company will have established a presence in both Pemba and Nacala, Mozambique. The position will be located in Dar es Salaam with regular travel to Mozambique. The business venture plans to grow to a $50 million balance sheet within five years.
