independent organization striving to protect and assist victims of war
and internal violence, has been working in South Sudan since 1986. The
ICRC is urgently looking for enthusiastic and motivated persons for
the position of Water and Habitat Field Officers.
The ICRC's Water and Habitat Unit aims to ensure that victims of armed
conflicts have access to drinking water, adequate shelter and that the
most vulnerable of the population are protected from hazards caused by
a lack of hygiene.
The following vacancy is open for all citizens of South Sudan.
Main Responsibilities:
• Assists the direct superior on the field assessment .
• Does technical proposals for Wathab interventions.
• Assists the direct superior in the reporting of Field Trip, and
participates with his/her technical inputs on the Monthly Wathab
Reporting.
• Leads technical team to implement Wathab activities.
• Coordinate with actors involved in a Wathab project and supervise
contractors.
Required Qualifications:
▪ Bachelor Degree, some college coursework completed, an Associate
Degree or equivalent higher education degree in water supply, geology,
sanitation, construction, engineering or any related technical field.
▪ Additional vocational training in water supply, hydrogeology,
sanitation, construction, engineering or any related technical field.
▪ 4-6 years of experience in water supply, sanitation, drilling,
construction, engineering or similar technical position.
▪ Advanced conversational in English and Arabic.
▪ Advanced level in computer skills.
• Advanced Skilled in the following competencies: Adapting & Learning;
Team Work, Planning, Organization & Assessment; Analysis & Synthesis;
Responsibility & Autonomy.
• Familiarity with the work of drilling, hand pump and water yards
repair or installation
• Familiarity with the standard norms and rules in construction, local
techniques and requirements for construction.
• Experience in assessing, surveying, calculating and preparing
estimates and technical drawings of buildings.
