The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is one of the three successor companies of the Uganda Electricity Board (UEB). Their mandate is ownership of the electricity distribution assets in Uganda. UEDCL is seeking to hire qualified persons to fill the following positions:

Job Position: ESTATES OFFICER

Report to: Principal Human Resource and Administrative Officer

Supervises: Maintenance

Duty Station: Head Office

Purpose of the Job: To Manage and Maintain UEDCL property as per company standards and regulations.

Key Result Areas:

Maintaining all equipment and ensuring that they are in good working condition.
Follow up payment of rent and utilities to ensure timely payments.
Maintaining a safe, Healthy and clean environment at all times.
Supervising of repairs on the building so as to ensure that the required materials are used in conformity with the required standard.
Checking for leakages in the plumbing system and making arrangements for the plumbers to- repair any damages.
Checking the electricity network of the premises and making arrangements with the electrician to come and repair any faults.
Allocation of Parking slots for the tenants.
Overseeing and maintaining security on the building at all times.
Attend to all customer queries and complaints related to the building.

Requirement:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A Bachelors’ degree Business Administration or B.Com
A minimum of 3 years working experience in a related field in a recognized organization
Computer Knowledge in Microsoft office
Proven Track record of Integrity & Work ethics, committed team player who is result oriented

Job Position: LINE’S MAN

Reports to: Technical Assistant

Purpose: Assists the Technical assistant in network expansion, operation and Maintenance.

Key Result Areas:

1. Carry-out- construction of the distribution system extensions, development schemes and services in conformity with agreed specifications and standards

2 Carry-out installations and maintenance of overhead lines, switch gear, distribution transformers and underground cables according to agreed standards.

3 Prepare on daily basis records for works carried out by overhead crew.

4 Carry-out/ Supervise line clearance as need arises

5 Account for materials issued for construction and maintenance works plus ensuring safe custody of tools.

6 Carry-out connections of new customers (service connections and meter installations).

7 Assist in carrying out disconnections and reconnections as may be requested from time to time

8 Apply without exception safety measures per assignment while carrying out any duties.

9 Carry-out any other duties as may be assigned by the Manager
Requirement:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A Crafts Certificate in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Academic Institution.
Experience of not less than 2 years in a reputable public or private organization while working as a line’s man.
Proven Track record of Integrity & Work ethics, committed team player who is result oriented.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering will be an added advantage.
IT Knowledge is an added advantage.
Having a valid driving permit Classes A and B is an added advantage

Job Position: REVENUE ASSISTANT

Reports to: Manager, North Eastern Service Territory

Supervises: None

Duty Station: Moroto

Purpose of the Job: Responsible for handling of Energy sales and billing functions at the Territory Head Office.

Key Result Areas:

Registering new customers.
Prepare and submit daily bank reconciliation reports.
Requisition issue and account for petty cash
Manage and coordinate all marketing and promotional activities.
Sell prepaid energy vouchers as per agreed policies
Attend to customer queries and complaints
Prepare monthly revenue report and submit to the Manager.

Requirement:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A Diploma in Business Administration (UDBS) or Accountancy from a recognized Academic Institution.
Professional Qualification at least Stage II, i.e. ACCA, CPA
Experience of not less than 2 years in a reputable public or private organization while working in an accounting position
Proficiency in handling of Sun system, Inspirosoft & Sun Vision, Financial Analytical Skills & Problem Solving Skills, should have good written communication skills.
Proven Track record of Integrity & Work ethics, committed team player who is result oriented.
Knowledge of Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage.
IT Knowledge is an added advantage.
Having a valid driving permit Classes A and B is an added advantage.

Job Position: TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

Reports to: Territory Manager

Supervises: Linesmen

Duty station: Nakapiripirit, Katakwi or Moroto

No. of position: 2

Purpose of position:

To ensure availability of power in conformity with agreed specifications and standards and minimize damages to equipment, surrounding and ensuring safety to personnel

and customers.

Duties of Technical Assistant:

Supervise and carry out construction and maintenance of overhead lines, switch gears, transformers and underground cable in accordance with the agreed standards.
Carry out commercial survey for new connection and effect new connections and meter installations in accordance with the agreed specifications and standards.
Assist in carrying out disconnection and reconnection as may be requested from time to time.
Maintain daily records, organize line clearance and handle assigned system emergencies.
Devise quick means to identifying causes of power failures.
Apply safety measures on all assignments when carrying out any duties.
Produce and submit reports on faults, new connections and others etc.
Carry-out any other duties assigned by the station manager.

Requirement:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- A Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized academic institution

- Experience of not less than 2 years in a reputable public or private organization while working as an electrical technician

- Proven track record of integrity and work ethics, committed team player who is result oriented

- Knowledge of mechanical engineering will be an added advantage.

- Having a valid driving permit Classes A and B is an added advantage

- IT Knowledge is an added advantage

Job Position: ASSISTANT MANAGER

Reports to: Manager. Worth Eastern Service Territory Supervises: Technical Assistants, Lines men, Office / administrative assistants.

Duty Station: Nakapiripirit or Katakwi

No of positions: 2

Purpose of the position: To Plan, Coordinate and monitor all the activities involved in the operations of the sub Service Territory Office.

Key Result Areas:

Prepare the Sub-Territory budget and activity Implementation plans.
Review and make recommendations for the construction and maintenance of electrical lines according to agreed standards.
Plan, authorize and carry out commercial survey for new electrical lines.
Coordinate and Attend to all electrical related complaints and maintain staff to customer, staff to-staff good relationships.
Promote and maintain availability of power supply in conformity with the agreed specification and standards.
Promote and Coordinate safe, economical, efficient and effective operation of the distribution network.
Promote and enforce company policy on power supply and adherence to safety measures.
Identify risks in the section and devise mechanisms of mitigating them.
Prepare and submit periodic reports as required and advice management on appropriate solution and steps to address some of the operational problems


Requirement:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

A Bachelors degree in Business Administration (BBA), Electrical engineering or its equivalent from a recognized university.
A diploma in electrical and electronics engineering
Professional Qualification at least Stage II, i.e. ACCA, CPA
Experience of not less than 3 years in a reputable public or private organization
Proven Track record of Integrity & Work ethics, committed team player who is result oriented
Knowledge of Electrical Engineering will be an added advantage
IT Knowledge is an added advantage
Having a valid driving permit Classes A and B is an added advantage.
