African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced Reliability Superintendent to assist the Maintenance and Engineering Department to improve maintenance practices, standards and procedures and provide specific technical support in accordance with ABG policies, standards and safety practices. The incumbent will manage the implementation of all shaft haulage systems, statutory inspections and maintenance strategy standards.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Analyse equipment performance and provide guidance to maintenance activities.
• Set up effective maintenance strategies using RCM methodologies
• Ensure that maintenance strategies and activities adequately cover the legally required inspections and tests.
• Experience and exposure with regards to Condition Monitoring, and Hydrocarbon Management.
• Knowledge of all legal and environmental aspects of Hydrocarbon Management pertaining to Tanzanian Environmental and Legal legislation
• Provide guidance in Condition Monitoring, e.g. Vibration Analysis, Thermographics, Tribology, Laser Alignment, Thickness testing, etc.
• Implement and coordinate Root Cause Failure Analysis programmes.
• Facilitate Reliability Improvement processes
• Set up recording and reporting systems that accurately monitor equipment performance. Trending and interpretation of reports will guide maintenance activities and provide feedback.
• Provide guidance to maintenance teams on methods to conduct effective maintenance
• Assist in setting up a model for “Shutdown Management”. Planning and control of shutdown activities.
• Assist in setting up a control and management system for critical spares
• Liaise with Warehouse and Maintenance staff to assist in providing spares for maintenance activities.
• Guide and review engineering analyses and designs being performed by contractors/consultants to ensure quality and consistency with company requirements.
• Provide input relative to all applicable engineering codes and standards and ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety regulations and guidelines.
• Work closely with Operations & Maintenance personnel to provide engineering support and consultation on an ongoing basis.
• Participate in the planning, evaluation, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of engineering equipment and systems to ensure that the needs of the company are met in the most economical and effective manner.
• Review engineering designs, specifications and equipment for new or renovated installations to ensure that maintenance aspects are considered.
• Assist in establishing company standards for maintenance activities.
• Provide guidelines to the operations for cost of maintenance for future projects and annual budgets.
• Provide leadership, training and support to develop maintenance functions.
• Create a working environment that ensures continued personal growth and development. Actively participating in training and mentoring programs.
• Provide technical support to all Engineering and Maintenance sections.
• Develop and implement maintenance and construction strategies, budgets and plans as required to ensure that services are efficiently provided at optimum cost.
• Continually monitor progress of all work and projects assigned to ensure timely, efficient and safe completion of all tasks.
• Assist in Set up the Predictive Maintenance program and ensure the continual improvement with compliances and for the results.
• Participate and contribute towards the Continual Improvement program for Maintenance and Engineering Department.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
• Degree from a recognised tertiary institution in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience Requirements:
• Detail working knowledge of budgets, labour
• Exposure to the challenges of operating at remote sites and in particular developing countries.
• Ten years experience as a practicing Mechanical Engineer with at least five years in a senior supervisory role.
• Demonstrated project management experience and successful completion of a number of major projects is essential.
• Experience with maintenance statuary inspections and maintenance strategy standards of mine hoist, shaft haulage system, shaft conveyance, rope, and lifting devises such as mobile and fix crane is required.
• Solid experience in condition monitoring.
• Experience in development and training of a national workforce is required.
