The position of R&D intern- mining will work within the Calgary Research Center to assist with the execution and evaluation of a batch extraction laboratory program targeted at providing a statistical understanding of the impact of water chemistry on expected recovery. In addition, the student will have the opportunity to use water chemistry models to predict process water chemistries and evaluate the impact of these expected chemistries on the oil sands extraction process. The student will work closely with other members of the R&D team and will have an opportunity to learn how research & development supports the design of a large scale oil sands project.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Coordinate batch extraction testing with third party lab.
- Use previously developed water chemistry models to understand how the batch extraction results may impact production.
- Assist R&D staff with analysis of data from other research programs as required.

The successful candidate should have an excellent grasp of mass balances, lab methods, statistics, technical writing, matlab and excel. |
