GENDER CONSULTANT
I. INTRODUCTION On 9th July 2011 South Sudan attained its independence from Sudan following several decades of brutal conflict. Despite concerted efforts to develop governance systems, extend services to the population and address root causes of conflict South Sudan continues to be marred by widespread violence and insecurity. This is compounded by the continued marginalization and disenfranchisement of different population groups. Women and children in particular bear a significant brunt of violence and its consequences at the domestic and societal level.
