ICAP within the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University is working in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation and the Ministry of Medical Services to strengthen HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment services in the country. This program is funded by PEPFAR. ICAP is currently accepting expressions of interest from candidates for a prospective USAID-funded project.
The Chief of Party will be responsible for strategic direction and management of a complex national training project to increase the number of new health workers trained, address workforce gaps in skills and knowledge, build the capacity of training institutions and strengthen regulatory bodies to increase demand for training. Successful candidates should demonstrate high-level expertise in human resource management and health systems strengthening with at least 5 years of experience managing health projects in a resource-constrained country.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide strategic direction and overall management of the project
• Provide oversight of planning and management of the project annual work plan and budget
• Provide oversight of administrative and financial management
• Provide oversight of human resource management
• Provide oversight of project monitoring and evaluation
• Coordinate all public relations and communications
• Communicate with donors and Ministries of Health/National AIDS and STI Control Program
• Prepare required reports on project activities
• Represent the project in meetings with donor, government officials, and partner organizations
Qualifications and Experience
• Master's degree in a health related or management field
• At least 5 years of experience in managing a complex public health project(HIV project an advantage)
• Experience in training, mentoring and supervision of health care workers
• Knowledge of Kenyan health system
• Familiarity with PEPFAR and other USG initiatives
• Excellent written and oral communication skills essential
