PATH, a non-profit international health organization committed to improving health worldwide, is collaborating with the Tanzania Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Zanzibar Ministry of Health, National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Program (NTLP), Zanzibar TB/Leprosy Program (ZTLP), National AIDS Control Program (NACP), and the Association of Private Health Facilities of Tanzania (APHFTA) to support a coordinated public- and private-sector response to tuberculosis and HIV with support and funding through USAID and the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
The Finance/Accounting Associate will serve as a key team member for PATH's TB and TB/HIV programs in the PATH Dar es Salaam office. The Finance/Accounting Associate will facilitate the smoother operations of the Tanzania TB and TB/HIV finance/admin team and will work closely with the administrative and technical teams. The position will report to the Senior Project Administrator.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Provide day-to-day supervision of three Program Assistants (PAs) to ensure that their work is efficient and high quality.
- Take the lead in ensuring that PAs are collecting documentation and reconciling workshop/travel expenses efficiently.
- Provide support in procurement of supplies and equipment and maintaining a tracking system to identify and overcome delays.
- Ensure that all administrative assistance is provided as needed.
- Assist in recruitment and on boarding of new staff by cooridnating and arranging interviews, preparing introduction letters and orientation schedule among others.
- Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
- Good financial and accounting skills
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to create and use tracking systems
- Experience in providing training and supervision to junior team members.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to follow up with more senior members of staff for deliverables and information.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment with administrative and technical staff.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Experience working in international organizations with US government funding is desirable.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel.
Bachelor’s degree in commerce, accounting, or administration or a related degree, plus a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience, preferably with an international organization working in public health; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
