Our team of experts in the fields of ecotoxicology, environmental risk assessment and environmental chemistry is filling an entry-level position in Houston, Texas. From our offices in the USA and Europe, we work on all aspects of Shell’s global business.
- We seek a recent PhD.D. graduate with 3 years experience
- Must be interested in problem solving and working in discrete tasks to help maintain our business license to operate and grow our market share
- Using your scientific acumen, you will identify potential adverse effects of exposure to chemicals, wastes, and effluents using laboratory tests or field studies
- You will integrate ecotoxicology data with predicted or observed environmental-exposures to assess environmental risks
- You will then synthesize this information into communications for business leaders, regulators, and other stakeholder
- Develop environmental fate, exposure, effects and hazard assessments for Shell’s product portfolio to help us maintain and grow our market share
- Respond to requests from regulatory authorities for information to support our license to operate and demonstrate safe use of our products
- Provide subject-matter expertise to meet requirements of the EU chemicals law, REACH (Registration,Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals) for Shell products and operations
- Represent Shell in discussions with external stakeholders on ecotoxicology-related issues, especially as they relate to the US Toxic Substances Control Act and the implementation of the United Nation’s Globally Harmonized System for Classification and Labeling (GHS)
- Apply environmental hazard and risk assessment information to support site remediation in the Americas

Requirements:
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- PhD or candidate for degree completion in relevant discipline: ecotoxicology, ecological or natural sciences with applicable experience
- MS Chemistry/Environmental Science degree with experience will be considered
- Knowledge of hazard and risk assessment procedures
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Computational skills in bio-statistics , advanced computer literacy
- Computer modeling skills (e.g., EPIWIN suite or comparable models)
