We are currently seeking a Country Director for our operations based in Monrovia, Liberia. Position will be responsible for a staff of approximately 26 individuals, including the operation of a Refugee Camp currently housing 3,500 individuals. 20% travel to outlying regions will be required. Position also overseas agrarian projects and a micro-grant program. Strong preference will be given to US Citizens.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Be responsible for management of the project, applying best practices to all the goals and objectives of the proposal •Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly updates/reports, as required by the donor & HQ •Supervise the structure of the program and monitor the progress of the project objectives to ensure that it is completed on time and on budget and provide financial projections •Manage, train, and supervise all project staff members, applying all project related security measures for their safety •Develop and maintain productive relationships and communication for project coordination and implementation through local communities, regional coordination meetings, government programs, partner communications, INGO networks and donor agencies •Travel within the country and out; and work in remote areas for extended periods, as needed •Develop a long-term development strategy and take initiative to identify and develop proposals for external funding by public and private donors. •Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary
Education and/or Experience Requirements: •Bachelor degree in business, economics, international development, or related field, or professional experience in the same areas (Masters or higher preferred) •Experience in the areas of education, livelihood, agriculture, small business development, and gender equality •Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation •Understanding of microcredit principles and application in agrarian communities •Project and administrative experience in a cross cultural environment •5+ years experience in project management •Prior experience in Africa is preferable
